DMARC record configuration for Spaceship

This guide will help you add a Skysnag DMARC CNAME record using Spaceship’s DNS management system. Once configured, Skysnag will handle your DMARC policies, ensuring your domain’s email security is protected against phishing and email fraud.

Note: To successfully apply the instructions below, you must have a Skysnag account. If you haven’t created one yet, click here to do so.

Step 1: Log in to Your Spaceship Account

  1. Visit the Spaceship website.
  2. Log in using your account credentials.
  3. From your dashboard, go to the Domains section and locate the domain you wish to configure.

Step 2: Access the DNS Management Section

  1. Once you have selected your domain, click on Manage next to the domain name.
  2. Navigate to the DNS Settings or DNS Management section to access your domain’s DNS records.

Step 3: Add the CNAME Record for DMARC

  1. In the DNS Management section, click on Add DNS Record.
  2. Choose CNAME as the record type and input the following details:
  • Host/Name: Enter _dmarc (this is for DMARC purposes).
  • Points to/Target: Enter {your-domain-name}.protect._d.skysnag.com. Replace {your-domain-name} with your actual domain, e.g., example.com.protect._d.skysnag.com.
  • TTL: Leave the default or set it to Automatic for quicker propagation.
  • Click Save to add the CNAME record.

Step 4: Wait for DNS Propagation

  1. After saving the CNAME record, DNS propagation may take a few minutes to 24 hours.

Step 5: Verify the Skysnag CNAME Record

  1. Log in to your Skysnag dashboard.
  2. Locate the domain where you added the CNAME record.
  3. Click the Verify button to confirm that the Skysnag DMARC CNAME record is properly configured.
  4. Once verified, Skysnag will automatically manage your DMARC policies and provide email security reports.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • CNAME Record Not Propagating? Double-check the record details and allow up to 24 hours for DNS propagation.
  • Existing DMARC TXT Record Conflict? If you already have a DMARC TXT record, consider removing or updating it to prevent conflicts with the new Skysnag CNAME record.
  • Need Help from Spaceship? Spaceship provides support through their help center and customer service to assist with DNS management and troubleshooting.
