How To Configure DMARC In Register.it

This guide will help you add a Skysnag DMARC CNAME record to your domain using Register.it’s DNS management system. Once set up, Skysnag will manage your DMARC policies, ensuring your domain is protected from phishing attacks and email fraud.

Note: To successfully apply the instructions below, you must have a Skysnag account. If you haven’t created one yet, click here to do so.

Step 1: Log in to Your Register.it Account

  1. Visit the Register.it website.
  2. Log in using your account credentials.
  3. Once logged in, go to the Domains section and select the domain you want to configure.

Step 2: Access the DNS Management Section

  1. Once you have selected your domain, click on Manage to access its settings.
  2. In the domain management page, click on DNS Management to enter the DNS configuration area.

Step 3: Add the CNAME Record for DMARC

  1. In the DNS Management section, click on Add DNS Record.
  2. In the new record form, select CNAME as the record type.
  3. Enter the following information:
    • Host/Name: Enter _dmarc (this is for DMARC purposes).
    • Points to/Target: Enter {your-domain-name}.protect._d.skysnag.com. Replace {your-domain-name} with your actual domain name, e.g., example.com.protect._d.skysnag.com.
    • TTL: You can leave this as the default value or choose Automatic for faster propagation.
  4. Once the information is entered, click Save to add the new CNAME record.

Step 4: Wait for DNS Propagation

  1. After saving the CNAME record, allow some time for DNS propagation. This process can take a few minutes to 24 hours.

Step 5: Verify the Skysnag CNAME Record

  1. Log in to your Skysnag dashboard.
  2. Find the domain where you added the CNAME record.
  3. Click the Verify button to confirm that the Skysnag DMARC CNAME record has been properly configured.
  4. Once verified, Skysnag will manage your DMARC policies and email security, providing detailed reports.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • CNAME Record Not Propagating? Ensure the CNAME record values are correctly entered, and allow up to 24 hours for full DNS propagation.
  • Existing DMARC TXT Record Conflict? If you already have a DMARC TXT record, consider removing or updating it to avoid conflicts with the new Skysnag CNAME record.
