How to Set Up SPF for Splashthat?
An SPF record is a type of Domain Name System (DNS) record that identifies which mail servers are authorized to send email on behalf of your domain. SPF records help to prevent email spoofing by verifying that the email message is coming from a legitimate source. When a mail server receives an email, the mail server can check the SPF record of the domain to verify that the email is coming from an authorized source. If the email is not coming from an authorized source, the mail server can reject the email or mark it as spam.
Splashthat strongly advises setting up SPF for each customer’s own domain. Here’s how:
- The email address you want to use to send emails from on Splash, such as [email protected]
- Unused and distinctive subdomain
- Decide if Splash should handle auto-forwarding direct replies to emails sent by Splash or if your IT department will handle it.
- Please be aware that Splash only uses auto-forwarding for email addresses using subdomains that aren’t currently being utilized as websites if you want them to handle your direct replies.
You will need to add the SPF records that Splash will create to your DNS. Splash will complete the configuration of your SPF authentication after you publish the records on your DNS.
